Neuchâtel was once described by Alexandre Dumas as being like a toy-town made out of butter on account of it being predominately made out of sandstone.

The Neuchâtel old town is littered with statues - many depicting soldiers bearing arms and the coats of arms and flags of the Canton and the city of Neuchâtel
