Most recent travelogue - to Ballenberg Open Air Museum
Over the weekend I visited the Ballenberg Open Air Museum in Canton Berne for the first and very enjoyable time. The Open Air Museum is home to over 100 historic buildings from around Switzerland - some dating from the 15th Century. A 66 hectare site, Ballenberge is dramatically set against the mountains of the Bernese Oberland, above a valley, on a landscape formed by a retreating glacier. Farm animals, horse drawn carriages and picnicing facilities all make the Ballenberg an excellent family day out.
Featured travelogue - Taranaki Pioneer Village
My New Zealand correspondant, Carla Tipler, recently paid a visit to Taranaki Pioneer Village which she enjoyed throughly. Close to Stratford, Pioneer Village shows off the buildings of the past from Taranakis colonial past in full view of Mount Egmont / Taranaki.
