One of the great things about Switzerland is that it's landlocked. That means getting out of the country is a doddle. Basel is especially well connected being, as it is, at the meeting point of Switzerland, Germany and France. So the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), the Deutsche Bahn (DB) and the French Railways (SNCF) all run into Basel main train station.
