One marvellous thing to do in Munich is to take the lift (elevator to the Americans) to the top the Rathaus at Marienplatz for a 360-degree panoramic view of of the city. The Frauenkirche (Dom zu Unserer Lieben Frau, "Cathedral of Our Dear Lady") is one of the most prominent buildings in Munich and clearly visible from the nearby Rathaus. With it's distinctive Renaissance spires (which don't match the Gothic style of the rest of the building) is, without a doubt, a highlight of any visit to Munich and the tower of the Rathaus gives a great chance to see it from a different perspective.
