Antwerp is one my favorite cities in Europe. Antwerp is home to the renowned painter Rubens and many of his works hang in the city. Four of alter pieces by Rubens hang in Antwerp Cathedral including the: The Raising of the Cross (1609-10), The Descent From the Cross (1611-14), The Resurrection (1612), The Assumption of the Virgin (1626). With a fine old town and some fine squares, including Groenplaats, Antwerp has some excellent pubs and bars and dining opportunities with fine Belgian beer.
