We're
in the process of planning a trip of 7 to 10 days in Malta.
We've never been to Malta before - these are some of the
resources and (really) basic information I've got together
so far.
Guide books
Offline, we're using the Lonely
Planet guide to Malta & Gozo to
help plan our trip. It's a fairly short book - but my
impression is that it gives a good overview of the sights
and attractions available in Malta. That said, I'd like
to have read a bit more about the history of Malta -
but given the richness of Maltese history, I suspect
that may have changed the balance of the book quite substantially.
Other guide books
I picked the Lonely
Planet. after
flicking through it at the book store, but these are a
couple of possible alternatives
Virtu
Ferries runs catamaran services to/from Pozzallo
and Catania in Sicily.
Grandi
Navi Veloci run services between Livorno, Genoa,
Palermo and Tunis to Malta.
Grimaldi
Ferries refer to sailings from Genoa, Catania
and civitavecchia on their website - but don't seem to
have any actual sailings which I can book at around the
times were want to go.

Getting to Malta
Flights - our way
We'll be flying into Malta International Airport (south of Valetta) with either Air Malta (the Maltese National Airline) or Swiss International Airlines as both have direct flights from Zürich.
By sea - other options
Malta has sea links with Italy and Tunis.
Virtu Ferries runs catamaran services to/from Pozzallo and Catania in Sicily.
