The Fasnacht always take on a political or newsworthy event from the year gone by and, as you can see, lampoon it.
This year the financial crisis in the Eurozone was a hot topic - with Merkozy (Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy) often depicted in one role or another. I'll let you guess film poster this lantern took off. The reverse of this lantern showed, amongst other things, rats jumping off a sinking ship.
