Kingsgate Hotel Brydone, Oamaru
Review date: 10th November 2007
We hadn't planned to stop at Oamaru, but elected to stop before reaching Dunedin in order to see the Blue Penguins.
We came across the Kingsgate Hotel having discovered that every motel in town was full (the Duty Motel is handy like that) and were driving back along to the main road to the harbour. Kingsgate is handily centrally located in Oamaru.
We found the staff at this sizeable and spacious building to be friendly and efficient. Getting our room and check-in was done quick-as-you-like with a cheery smile. The "Superior Double" room we had was comfortable - although not as large as an equivalently named room we are accustomed to in Europe - and the bathroom was fine - although small for the description. Brekafast spread was small but of an decent quality and the brekky-lady was friendly and smiley - which is either really really good or utter cr*p, depending on how you feel about morning.
Basically, I recommend this hotel.
