Belgian Beer Cafe Torenhof

16th November 2007

Having checked into our Classic Villa, we were in need of something to eat. We quickly found the Belgian Beer Cafe Torenhof close by to the River Avon.

The Belgian Beer Cafe Torenhof is a barn of a place but was this evening was buzzing. Of course, Belgian Beer was on offer - which was nice, especially as it was all served in the correct glassware, an essential ingrediant in correct service of such finery.

Interestingly, each meal on the menu was marked with a beer that the establishment recomended you had with the meal. But I ignored that on account of I wanted to order a beer before I chose my food. To eat, I took the Belgian style "Venison & spiced pork sausage" which came with with red cabbage, stoemp, dijon mustard, sage and jus sauce. The meal was actually pretty good - but I suspect the involvment of some form of accelerated cooking device had been used as everything was just a little overdone but not to excess.

Service was generally pretty quick and efficient but unexceptional.

Overall a pleasant place to spend a convivial evening with some decent beer and not-bad food.
