The Counting House, City of London
Review date: 19 September 2007
It's been a couple of years since I've been into the Grade II listed building that is the Counting House pub. The Counting House hasn't lost any of that "Wow" factor that you get when you walk in. Chandeliers hang from the soaring cielings. The enornmous bar island in the centre of pub is nothing short of impressive and the glass dome is, indeed, mighty.
The Counting House "Counting House Special Pie" is indeed a special pie - containing as it does prime beef, smoked bacon, onions and a London Porter Gravy. All pies come with veggies and a choice of new potatoes, mash or chips. I took the mash this time. The Pie was excellent and well worth the money - full of meat and succulent. Quite a treat. Table service from 12 to 3 pm was prompt, efficient and friendly. Will certainly pay a visit to the Counting House on my next visit to London.
As a Fullers pub, the standard range of Fullers Beer is on offer, including the flagship London Pride.
