Walliser Keller Restaurant

Review date: 18 January 2007

We popped into the Walliser Keller for dinner this evening with a friend of ours. Initial impressions were not good as they had "lost" our reservation and were otherwise fully booked. We shared a table with an American couple.

The Fondue was excellent and, in Marks opinion, better than that at Le Dezaley. A limited selection of white and red wines are on offer although they are predominatly Swiss. The whites are generally suited to the Fondue for which the Walliser Keller is known. Of course, Kirsch is a suitable compliment to Fondue (even if you do have a bottle of wine!)

There is a policy of not smoking during the peak dining times of lunch and dinner, which is irritating to smokers who end up popping outside during course intermissions - although the no-smoking policy ends at 21:15 in the evening session.

To be honest, I couldn't really latch onto anything that was exceptional or dire. The whole Fondue at the Walliser Keller was a solid, pleasant and enjoyable experience. recommended.
