Blockhus

Review date: 21 September 2007

Popped into The Blockhus for a spot of lunch today. As is customary, a warm welcome before tucking in was forthcoming. A selection of daily specials was discretely tucked into main menu.

From the daily specials, we ordered the noodles in a cream sauce with Veal-cream sauce (a la Zürigschnätzlets) with chanterelle. Pasta, veal and sauce were excellent. The veal was splendid - lean and cooked well. Somehow recently in Zürich people seem to have started churning out the fatty-over-cooked variety of veal so it's good to get good meat from a chef who knows how to cook it.

Apparently, the building on the site of the Blockhus has been there for two centuries. Wood-panelling and limited tables adds to the atmosphere of the place and is nicely juxtaposed against the modern artists which are displayed (in bi-monthly rotation) upon the walls.

Marvelous meal and highly recomended.
