Hotels in Zürich

Zürich has many places to stay. As a major financial centre, Zürich hotels aren't always great value and they're definately not the cheapest. Generally, if you're in the Zürich area for more than a few days, you're better off staying in Winterthur or Rapperswil both of which offer better value.

Hotel Limmathof

I've only visited the Hotel Limmathof once. The room was a good size and clean. The location of the Limmathof is superb being under five minutes walk from the Main Train Station and at the Central entrance to the Niederdorf. Also a lot cheaper than the Hotel Central directly opposite. Basically very good value.

Hotel Schweizerhof

The Schweizerhof is at the opposite end of the price-scale from ZicZacs (see below), but well worth the extra money. Location wise, the Schweizerhof is perfect. It's directly opposite the Main Train Station and on Zürichs Bahnhofstrasse which is fantastic if your into shopping. St Peters Church, Fraumünster and Grossmünster are all within walking distance. Bathrooms excellent. Service superb.

Zic-Zac Rock Hotel

In 2004, I stayed in the Zic Zac rock hotel in the Niederdorf area of Zürich as the only available hotels were well out of my budget. Frankly, I should have spent the extra money. The bed broke when I sat on it. (I'm not that heavy!) And the room stank. Thankfully, it wasn't cold outside so the windows were instantly opened. Grossmünster is just down the road and St Peters and Fraumünster are close by. "Reception" was ok. Breakfast non-existant.
