20th March 2008 - Leaving Zürich for Milan

As expected, we're currently on the Cisalpino train from Zürich to Milano Centrale.

Not much to report really, the train was, in the finest Swiss tradition, punctual leaving Zürich. As is customary on international trains, the police boarded the train to conduct the passport check. This time in Lugano which was the last stop in Switzerland. We're scheduled to spend tonight in the Starhotels Anderson in Piazza Luigi Di Savoia directly outside Miulan main station. We selected this hotel as it's directly opposite the rail station - which given our 22:47 scheduled arrival time was a major consideration. We didn't want to spend a lot of time wandering around town after dark when were likely to be tired and cranky after a several hour train ride and day at work.

On Friday morning, we're planning to head to Canova exhibition at the Palazzo Reale close to Milans famous Duomo. We will, of course, be visiting the Duomo at the same time.

In the early evening from Friday, we will move onto Turin where we will stay in the Townhouse 70 (Via XX Settembre 70) in central Turin. The Townhouse wasn't the cheapest hotel in Turin nor the most expensive but it does provide an excellent location which is why we selected it. With a limited amount of time (three nights/two-and-a-half days) on our first visit to Turin we wanted to be central to make the most of our time.

The current weather forecast for Turin is for sun on the Saturday and showers and generally cold on the Sunday. Consequently, we're probably going to goto the exhibition about the Savoys at La Veneria Reale and other indoor activities on Sunday.
