On my visits to Lugano, I've only ever stayed at the Hotel Splendide Royale, Lugano (Riva Antonio Caccia, 7 - 6900 Lugano) Well located on the water front of the lake and a 15 minute stroll into Lugano town itself, service has always been nothing short of impeccable. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Lakeside rooms boast balconies and, unsurprisingly, a mountained-backdrop lake view. Not the cheapest place in town - but certainly one of the best and I've never had any reason to look anywhere else.
