Getting to Lugano
By rail
Lugano is connected to both Switzerland and Italy by rail. Regular direct trains to Lugano from Zürich are around 2 hrs 30 minutes. Direct trains from Milano Centrale depart regularly for Lugano take around 1 hour. The Cantonal capital, Bellinzona 20 minutes away by train.
Both Chiasso and Como (Italy) are within easy reach of Lugano.

Scenic route to Lugano
During the summer months, the Bernina Express runs from Chur to Lugano. This scenic route includes a section between Thusis and Tirano which, since the summer of 2008, has been designated a world heritage site by UNESCO.

By air
Lugano is served by Lugano Airport - in Agno, a short distance from Lugano itself. Lugano Airport is served by mainly domestic and regional flights.
