Copenhagen and Stockholm 2007

For this trip we flew into Copenhagen airport and back from Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

Copenhagen was wet, windy and cold which is probably what gave us the severe coughs and colds in the first place. As we were in Copenhagen over the Easter weekend many places were closed on the Friday and Monday and only a few were open on the weekend.

In Copenhagen, we stayed in the Hotel Kong Arthur which was pleasant enough if somewhat to far out of town for our particular liking. Although trekking through the rain really didn't help.

In Stockholm, we stayed much more centrally in the charming Hotel Sven Vintappare which was also quite handy for the music club which is Stampen.

During our time in Stockholm, the weather was unseasonally warm and the skies blue. But the terrible coughs and colds we had picked up meant we took it easier than usual and were pleased to have a decent hotel to relax in.

However, we did make it out to Drottningholm Palace, which is the private residence of the Swedish Royal Family, and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1991.

We also managed to visit many of the museums in The Royal Palace which was a short walk from our hotel in Gamla Stan, and home to many museums detailing various aspects of Swedish and Swedish Royal history.

One evening we also took the short to walk to Södermalm island just south of Gamla Stan. Södermalm has a very different feel to Gamla Stan - much more working class in it's feel and with a lot of life in the streets.
