Italy - presse of a travelogue
Our
week in Italy was a most enjoyable
time. With time spent in the major centres of Milan, Florence and Rome and
made a side trip to Pisa
and San Gimignano we managed to cover a signifcant chunk
of Italy in the time we had available.
While this tour could by no means be described as intensive, we could have covered much more - but for the heat - it is my opinion that many of the major attractions were covered and, in that sense at least, provided a refreshing change from continually having to find somewhere new to visit in places we've been to many times. This managed to satisfy both our visitors in terms of getting the best of the trip and refreshing our own memories of joys of Milan, Florence, Rome and Pisa / San Gimignano have to offer.
From those places we did visit, I personally have a strong preference for Rome which is one of the most wonderful cities in the world. Returning to the interior of the Basilica of St Peters, the Piazza Navona at night and drinking coffee at the Pantheon by night are wonderful experiences.
