Les Moules, Josefov, Prague

Review date: 02 January 2007

As it was pissing down with rain outside we decided to pop into Les Moules for lunch. Les Moules is one of those places that is strategically dressed up a Belgian Cafe that seem to have become internationally popular over the last few years.

Appropriately, there is a selection of both Belgian and Czech beer on offer. And yes, with the Czechs being proud beer drinkers, each beer is served in the glass which was intended for it. The on-tap beers include Leffe, Hoegaarden, Stella Artois, Staropramen (Granat and Lezak) and Bellevue. Bottled beer includes Karmeliet, Kasteel, Augustijn, Chimay Red and Blue and Westmalle Triple alongside a variety of fruit beers.

For this visit, Mark would have the "Venison sirloin steak, marinated in original Gent Jenever baked medium, served with mushroom pie and baked pumpkin." To be quite honest, the meal was badly prepared with the Venison hideously overdone and leathery. The Mushroom pie lacked flavour.

Overall, I enjoyed the visit to Les Moules as the service wasn't bad and they've got a good selection beers which are worth sampling. Les Moules is worth coming to for a drink but in future, I will most certainly be dining elsewhere. Unless it's raining.
