Melk train station is adjacent to the old town and a matter of minutes walk.
From Vienna
Hourly direct trains leave from Vienna Westbahnhof (direction Amtstetten) and take 75 minutes. Further connections are available but require a change and usually take longer than the direct train. Detailed train schedules are available from OeBB - Austrian Railways.
From Amtstetten
Two direct an hour trains leave from Amtstetten for and take under 40 minutes. Detailed train schedules are available from OeBB - Austrian Railways.
From St Pölten
Two direct an hour trains leave from St Pölten for and take 20 minutes. Detailed train schedules are available from OeBB - Austrian Railways.
