Spain - recommended hotels by Mark Sukhija

Please mention MarksTravelNotes.com when contacting these fine establishments. I have stayed at all these hotels.

    Madrid

  • Catalonia Puerta del Sol (Atocha, 23. 28012 Madrid) - Very well located and comfortable hotel in central Madrid . Close to Plaza Mayor and walking distance to the Plaza Mayor and the Catalonia Puerta del Sol Does a decent if unremarkable breakfast. Impressive staircase;

  • Seville

  • Vincci La Rabida (Castelar 24, Casco Antiguo, 41001 Seville) - Excellently located in the heart of Seville old town and walking distance from the impressive and the bull ring. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and organised around a central internal courtyard - which provides a satisfying sense of space. Breakfast is quite enjoyable and in a spacious, airy breakfast room. There's several restaurants, pubs and bars in the area - most of which come alive later in the evening. One of the nicest hotels I've stayed in Europe

  • Valencia

  • Vincci Lys (Avenida Martinez Cubells 5, 46002 Valencia) - Under 5 minutes walk from the train station and around 10 minutes walk from the Old Town and Monsieur Vuong , the Vincci Lys is well located. Rooms are reasonably spacious and comfortable. Reception staff are well informed and helpful. Has a decent if unremarkable restaurant - the restaurant across the road is better, in my opinion, and does decent paella.

  • Zaragoza

  • Hotel via Romana (Don Jaime I, 54-56 50001 Zaragoza) - Right across the road from the Basilica-Cathedral of Our Lady of the Pillar (Catedral-Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar) Hotel via Romana is as central as you're ever going to get in Zaragoza . Facilities are basic, clean and functional. Good value for money.
